On the day of our flight, Russel and I had the following before hitting the airport:

1. Jaeger Bombs

2. Strawberry Daiquiri

As our flight got delayed, I ordered San Mig Light from the sad concession stand at Departures. (Don't you feel nice giving these Manila airport stands business? You'd think the money would go to repairing depreciated roofing!)

You could just imagine how fired up I was upon arrival. Upon unloading our bags at our hotel, we realized it was close to 5pm.

HAPPY HOUR! HEY JUDE! LONG ISLAND! That's Russel and I drinking for dear life.

*boracay debrief session 1

So I was back in the best beach in the world. For the third straight year. If I come to think of it, Boracay is my only vacation every year. Those other Paid Times Off are either for getting sick or just hanging around the City.

Note: I've only been to beaches here in the Philippines so I might not be the best person to say the above statement. BUT... my new drunken party friends from Hey Jude said the same thing more than once my last party night.

Theme: GORA sa BORA 2008

Note: GORA is a variation of 'go', 'sa' is Filipino for 'to' (at least by how I used it in the theme) and BORA is shortcut for Boracay.

Note: I hate calling Boracay Bora, but I need to find the perfect rhyme anyway. Bora sounds so pretentious. Better to call it 'The Island.'

Here's Russel reviving his halcyon day routines with the University of the Philippines Pep Squad. He hasn't lost it, huh? Those who frequent this blog know that he is my boss/friend. He's my mentor too.

One word: Madame. His comic timing is as natural as his panache with clothes. One of these days, I will write about all his power lines from the trip. This is my favorite Madame photo from our stay.

My Recycle Is Bigger Than Yours

Every six to twelve months I attack the garage. It's mostly my fault for not putting things away when I'm done with them. This last round started off pretty bad but after two weekends I've turned things around. But this time I was highly motivated since I had put away the Halloween stuff so well last year I couldn't even find it.

This past week we really had a lot of stuff to go out in the recycle. You can see our neighbours with only one paper bag out by the curb.

One positive to all this work is that I finally found the Halloween stuff and second the garage is in some semblance of order with most things in their place.

I freed up a lot of space by consolidating all the plastic cutlery and we are set for the foreseeable future in that regards. Arranged all the RCA and COAX cables I have accumulated over the years and labeled a few more boxes so that we can find stuff when we need to find their contents.

Has anyone else done some fall cleaning? Discovered any missing treasures? Or just realized how much of the stuff we have you don't really need.

Obama tries to cool things down

The Sunday Telegraph is reporting rumours that Obama will offer McCain a government position if he wins the election. A non-cabinet position, focusing on veteran affairs is apparently in the offing.

Both presidential rivals are working behind the scenes to calm the increasingly incendiary atmosphere on the campaign trail, which erupted with lurid claims about Mr Obama's links with the former terrorist Bill Ayres and a lynch mob atmosphere at McCain rallies.
Two Democratic sources with knowledge of the thinking in the Obama camp say that forming a partnership with Mr McCain would prove that Mr Obama will reach across the aisle and also help rehabilitate Mr McCain, who many Democrats believe has been pushed by hardline advisers into making increasingly desperate attacks on his rival.
By his own admission, the Republican candidate "took the gloves off" last week , unleashing adverts and soundbites attacking Mr Obama's character and judgment as polls showed him on course for a landslide election victory.
One well-connected Democrat, who spoke to Mr Obama last week, told The Sunday Telegraph: "John McCain is a good man. There's no question about it. I think we'll see Barack Obama reach out to him and say: let's work together."
He pointed out that Bill Clinton and the first President Bush "work together on common issues" despite their testy exchanges "in the heat of battle".
And a Democratic strategist who talks regularly with Mr Obama's senior advisors added: "Obama has said all along that he will work with the best people, regardless of party affiliation. John McCain has experience and he used to have a record of bipartisanship. We're all going to need to pull together when this is over."
Mr McCain will not be offered a cabinet job, but Mr Obama may ask him to spearhead a bipartisan overhaul of veteran's affairs, an issue close to Mr McCain's heart.
The claims that Mr Obama is already planning his administration come as a friend of Mr McCain revealed that the Republican candidate is concerned that the ugly rhetoric of the last week will damage his reputation as an honest patriot if he loses on November 4.
The Republican strategist, who used to work for Mr McCain, said: "John knows that his reputation as a decent man is on the line but he's got devils on each shoulder telling him to hit harder."
That sentiment appeared to be behind Mr McCain's decision on Friday night to dial back the rhetoric, telling the crowd at one rally that they should be more "respectful" of Mr Obama and insisting that his Democratic rival is "a decent family man". He dismissed one woman's claim that Mr Obama is "an Arab" and added: "He's a person that you don't have to be scared of as President of the United States." The booing that accompanied these gestures of conciliation is a measure of the rage which has gripped many Republican voters now that polls suggest an Obama presidency is likely.

They've created a monster.
