Trying the BlackBerry 8100 (Pearl)

Though I love the iPhone, I want more enterprise functionality. So, last might I went to my local AT&T store and shopped around; I boiled down to the 8800, Curve or Pearl. I nixed the idea of the Treo 750 only because of no BES support.

I had never used the Pearl before, I had experience with the 8800 so i thought that the 8100 would be a good bet. I was really appreciate about Sure-Type, but it works without a hitch, very impressive.

I am not a fan of the BlackBerry's text-only email, but I know HTML is coming, so patience is key.

Navigating is fine with the trackball, no complaints there. For me the issue is, the OS just does not seem cohesive. I don't like how all of my messages show up in one inbox (I have it set to separate... but still) and the font, no matter which I choose are... funky.

I will play with it a couple of weeks and see what I decide.

I have a Pearl, and I think you might be happier with the Curve. Personally I get I would prefer the full size keyboard on the Curve.

So, a total reversal from your, "I've accepted the iphone for what it is" and "will stop trying to use it in a business context." Flip flipping is not viewed kindly in an election year....

I actually enjoy the Pearl's keyboard. It is just the BlackBerry's OS that bothers me, when you are used to a Palm or iPhone. I actually am very impressed with the Pearl's accuracy on the keypad. I can spell most of my last name with one key!
