Why I think the Palm Foleo is brilliant

Comments

This is Ben Combee, one of the tech leads at Palm on the Foleo project. This is a really good summary of our argument in favor of the device, and it actually summarizes how I've used my own development device when I've been on the Palm campus. I'm finally able to use it in public now that we've announced -- I was on a plane back to Austin last night and pulled it out to read an e-book in the PDF viewer and make some notes. When the drink service came, I just closed it and put it in the seatback pocket, then was able to instantly pick up where I left off later.

Well said,Chadman. I will follow you to the shop as soon as it is available.
I can't wait to see one. To bad I don't live by a Palm store. :-(
Do you have a secret money stash somewhere that I don't know about?
Somehow, I think that Foleo will make a good ereader kind of product. It'll be great for reading ebooks, ecomics, in fact, any sort of reading.
And while you are at it, you can browse the web, check your email...
..and write a book and twitter a bit;-)
Chad,

Good summary of the usefulness of the product. If you do raid the "secret money stash" and purchase a Foleo, please bring it with you when we vacation together this fall. You do know about the potential vacation on the NC coast, right? If not, ask your social secretary Jen.

I am not sure I'll be an early adopter, but the Foleo would solve several problems for me, mainly give me access to wifi at times when I don't have a phone connection (for instance, international travel). But I don't know that I'll ever use it otherwise. I think what I really want is a Linux Treo with wifi. :-)
I'm excited to see the Palm Foleo in the flesh.
