Misinformed reader comments across gaming blogs (such as Joystiq) are becoming increasingly frustrating. As we approach PSP's 2-year anniversary, many gamers seem to believe PSP is somehow a failure. Objection! If we align sales data to look only at the first 24 months of a console's US life, we'll see that PSP has actually done better than most other consoles, including the original PlayStation 1, and Nintendo DS.

Conclusion
Is PSP a failure? Definitely not. However, it could be even more of a success with better support from Sony. Clearly, Sony is doing something wrong if gamers have painted this inaccurate, fatalistic vision of PSP's doom. With PSP having started off with more momentum as PS1, why shouldn't Sony try to match the wild success of their first gaming console? The dream to have "PSP" as ubiquitous as "Walkman" doesn't have to seem like an improbability.

PSP passes 5 million mark in Japan

This is great news for PSP owners! More systems = more support. Too bad these are not sell-through numbers.

According to Nikkei Keizai Shimbun, the PSP has hit quite the landmark in Japan. By the end of February, Sony has hit 5 million domestic shipments of the portable. While the PSP is always in the shadow of the DS as far as press and sales are concerned, many seem to miss the fact that despite trailing the DS in sales, the PSP is a bigger seller in Japan than most other consoles.

The business news reporter also went on to say that software development is being increased and the PSP is in a growth period. As Sony reminds gamers, the system adoption rate is "the same as that of the original PlayStation, which shipped one hundred million units."

I look forward to the announcements on the new PSP games being created in Japan.

God of War coming to PSP! Official!

Yeah... oops! Well, we knew it was coming. For those that can't tell from the photo, the back cover of the instruction manual says, using the GoW symbol, that it is coming to PSP in 2007.

James Joy from 1UP got an early copy of God of War II. By taking pictures of the retail packaging, James has uncovered one of Sony's worst kept secrets: God of War is coming to PSP. In 2007, no less.

Is Ready At Dawn developing the game? Is it a remake? Is it a sequel? A prequel? There's still tons more info we'd like to know, but rest assured that the game is coming.

Well, a lot! I picked up a bunch of items for the PSP. I found a decent game-carrying case, but besides that, the rest are movies and games.

These were some great deals and I am most pleased with my purchases. Vice City Stories is easily the best game, but I am pleasantly surprised by how good MotoGP is; too bad there is no online with that game.

I have always enjoyed Starship Troopers and Kill Bill- both are great titles (though some argue that Starship Troopers is a bit cheesy). I am looking forward to watching these on an upcoming business trip to Madison, WI.

On a side note, speaking of Kill Bill, I found this Xbox360 faceplate- sweet, eh?

I picked this game up on the way home from work today. It was a toss-up between this and Brothers in Arms: D-Day.Ultimately, I went with this title for the 32 online multiplayer.

The games controls take a little getting used too, but at least there are a few choices. The single-player campaign looks good, and I am through the first mission. The multiplayer maps are huge and based off of the single player missions.

The game play is extremely slow-paced- to make it more realistic I suppose. You can only run for a couple of seconds at a time before you have to rest. Your walking speed is slow at best. This is OK though, as I mentioned, it is not a run-'n-gun, it is more of a focused shooter. The PSP really needs more games like this to really make it shine.
