Yup, I sold them on eBay today for a combined total of a little less then $200. Why did I sell them? Remember, I have a Treo 600 and I am using that device till I buy an unlocked Treo 680 in January (technically, I have a choice between the Treo 680 and a Wii. I am leaning towards the 680 because my Nintendo DS is doing a great job of meeting my gaming fix especially with 'Elite Beat Agents', 'Children of Mana', and 'Final Fantasy III'.
As much as I want the Nintendo Wii, I just can't justify it. I have too much
else going on with work, school and the little one to dedicate to a gaming console. The Nintendo DS is great because I can take it to work and play with friends or play games worldwide with folk via Wi-FI.Do you game? What console do you use? I have an "older" DS known as
the "DS Fat" that my wife uses. We play games occasionally such as 'New Super Mario Bros.' and 'Mario Kart DS'. These games are great because you only need one cartridge to play. We were into Brain Training, but that has kinds fell off our radar.
I have been a long time T-Mobile customer- about 4 years now (well, I consider that a long time anyway). About 9 months ago I purchased a Motorola V3 Razr and was initially content with it. I had a Sony-Ericsson T-610 which I LOVED, but unfortunately, meet a watery demise in a canoeing accident; umm, don’t ask.
I am not a HUGE phone neophile, but I do want features. My Razr, though solid, had some irritating features. A couple things really bothered me and prevented me from truly enjoying my phone.
- Screen delays
- Bad contact navigation
The
screen delays I understand are part of every Motorola phone. Hmm. That
is really annoying. Part two is the most annoying ever. I have about
300 contacts in my phone and when I would try to find a contact, let’s
say it started with “T”, I would have to press “T” repeatedly till I
got to the contact starting with “T” that I wanted. Ridiculous! I later
found out that this poor contact structure was part of the particular
model of Razr I had and not an inherent Razr problem. So being fed up,
I looked in last Sunday’s paper and online to see what other phones
were out there. I immediately thought of the Slvr, Motorola’s “candy
bar” phone. However, this phone was not offered by T-Mobile. So I
looked at what T-Mobile could offer me specifically. I found it… the
Samsung T509!
This phone is hot! It is a candy bar phone design like the Slvr, but THINNER! That is right, the T509 is the thinnest phone on the American market! Now before I go any further, to make this deal even sweeter, the phone was free. That is right, free. How? If you started a new plan, the phone was $50. Not bad, not bad at all. Considering the retail is something like $350. I got home and called customer service since my wife was going to be taking over my Razr, I had some questions for them. The CSR said that since I was a “platinum” customer, they would give me a $50 credit on my phone bill; in essence making the phone free! What a deal!
Now let me discuss why the T509 is so great. First of all the menu responses are all instant. That is right, instant. It is a pleasure to navigate around the menus and select an option by pressing the corresponding keypad numbers next to the choice you want- brilliant! The menus are intuitive and as I mentioned, very responsive. Next, battery life. I have had the phone since Sunday, and it is currently Wednesday. I have left Bluetooth on and since day one and I have experimented with my Scala 500 BT headset, made a few calls, sent some midi ring tones from my Mac via Bluetooth and made some calls, lasting about 10 minutes each. Here is the unbelievable part. The phone STILL has a full charge! Amazing! Not only that but it has the best reception I have ever had in a phone!
Next up was my big concern- how is this phone going to interact with my Palm T|X. No worries folks!
Just configure your Palm settings to accept a generic GSM phone and you are off cruising the Internet and dialing phone numbers! It was that easy! I had reservations since the Palm’s phone library does not list any Samsung phones, but it worked like a charm. If you are interested in getting a great quality, candy bar, Bluetooth, speakerphone mobile, look no further than Samsung's T509- you won't regret it!
